Cupra Tavascan Officially Enters Production At Volkswagen Anhui

Volkswagen Anhui Co., Ltd. has recently commenced the official production of the all-electric model Cupra Tavascan for export to the European market. Another Volkswagen brand model targeting the Chinese market is scheduled to roll off the production line in 2024.

Volkswagen Anhui is Volkswagen's first joint venture in China focusing on new energy vehicles. In addition, Volkswagen has established Volkswagen Automotive (China) Technology Co., Ltd., Volkswagen Automotive (Anhui) Components Co., Ltd., and Volkswagen Automotive (Anhui) Digital Sales Service Co., Ltd., with a total planned investment of 23.1 billion yuan in Anhui.

Built on the MEB platform, the Cupra Tavascan can be understood as the sibling of the Volkswagen ID.5, but with a distinctive Cupra family design, featuring a more aggressive look. The front of the car exhibits intricate lines with multiple large air intakes, integrated with black decorative strips. The new headlight assembly adopts a highly recognizable triangular light source, adding a sharp and distinctive touch.

The car adopts a sleek, coupe-like design on the side, sporting a small ducktail at the rear and a continuous taillight design. The rear bumper incorporates a large diffuser, further enhancing the overall sporty appearance. The dimensions of the new car are 4644/1861/1597mm in length, width, and height, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2766mm. The body length and width are slightly larger than the ID.5, while the height has been reduced.

In terms of power, the new car will be available in both single-motor and dual-motor versions. The single-motor version has a maximum power of 210 kW and peak torque of 545 Nm, while the dual-motor version boasts a maximum power of 250 kW and peak torque of 679 Nm. The WLTP range for the single-motor version is 550 kilometers, and for the dual-motor version, it is 520 kilometers.
