The distance between the tractor and the towed vehicle should be greater than 4 meters and less than 10 meters.
Article 61 of the Regulations on the Implementation of the Road Traffic Safety Law of the People's Republic of China shall comply with the following provisions:
1. The towed motor vehicle shall not carry any person except the driver, and shall not tow the trailer.
2. The width of the towed motor vehicle shall not be greater than that of the towed motor vehicle.
3. When using a soft connection traction device, the distance between the tractor and the towed vehicle should be greater than 4 meters and less than 10 meters.
4. The towed vehicle whose braking fails shall be towed by a hard-connected towing device.
5. Both the tractor and the towed vehicle should turn on the hazard warning lights. Truck cranes and wheeled special mechanical vehicles are not allowed to tow vehicles. Motorcycles are not allowed to tow vehicles or be towed by other vehicles. A malfunctioning motor vehicle whose steering or lighting or signalling device fails shall be towed by a special wrecker.
