What is BMW CAS Module? Symptoms of BMW CAS Module Failure

The BMW CAS (Car Access System) module is a control unit installed in the vehicle, primarily responsible for controlling the onboard computer and ignition switch. It is located beneath the left side of the driver's cabin, typically covered by a plastic panel. Removing the plastic panel reveals a black rectangular-shaped computer board. The CAS module can be identified by the presence of the letters "CAS" on the board.

Symptoms of BMW CAS Module Failure:

1:If the CAS module is damaged during programming, it may prevent the ignition switch from connecting to the power source to wake up other modules. In such cases, replacing the CAS module is necessary to resolve the issue.

2:Damage to the CAS module can affect the onboard computer and ignition switch, potentially causing the vehicle to be unable to start.

Solutions for BMW CAS Module Data Loss:

1:For CAS1 modules experiencing data lock due to unstable voltage, leading to ignition failure when the key is inserted, using a VVDI programmer to read and modify the data can resolve the issue.

2:In the case of CAS3+ modules, instability in the device may result in the ignition switch not engaging when the key is inserted, preventing the vehicle from starting. Modifying the F90 line from AA55 back to 0000 can rectify this issue.

3:If data loss occurs in CAS3+ modules due to unstable programming, professional tools can be used to modify the data in the DE0 and DF0 lines to resolve the issue.
