"LT" in tire markings stands for "Light Truck." It indicates that the tire is designed for light trucks, SUVs, and vans that require higher load-carrying capacity and durability compared to passenger car tires.

There are two common types of LT tires:
LT-Metric (e.g., LT265/75R16) – Designed for vehicles carrying heavy loads or used for towing.
LT-High Flotation (e.g., 31x10.50R15LT) – Commonly used on off-road and all-terrain vehicles.
LT tires generally have stronger sidewalls and higher ply ratings, making them more suitable for commercial use, rough terrain, or heavy-duty applications.
