1:What is it used for?
The approach angle is one of the indicators used to measure a vehicle's off-road capability. A larger approach angle reduces the likelihood of a front-end collision while maneuvering.

2:Did you know?
(1)The approach angle alone does not determine a vehicle's off-road performance. It needs to be considered in conjunction with other parameters and real-life conditions.
(2)The importance of the approach angle is not limited to SUVs. Sedans also require a certain level of off-road capability as they encounter situations like speed bumps, steep ramps, and ferry crossings. A larger approach angle reduces the risk of front-end collisions.
(3)Some vehicle models equipped with adjustable suspensions can raise or lower the body, so the approach angle value is not fixed.
3:Measurement standard
The maximum acute angle formed between a solid horizontal surface and the outer edge of the front tire, with the vehicle fully loaded and stationary, is defined as the approach angle. It ensures that any fixed components, such as the front bumper, located on the vehicle are above this angle.
