Variable Steering Ratio

1:What is it used for?

1
The variable steering ratio adjusts the steering gear ratio based on the car's speed and steering angle. When the car is stationary, moving at low speeds, or at a large steering angle, it provides a smaller steering gear ratio. On the other hand, when the car is traveling at high speeds or the steering angle is small, it provides a larger steering gear ratio, thereby improving the stability of the car's steering.

2:Classification:
a) Mechanical Variable Steering Ratio
The mechanical variable steering ratio is mainly achieved through a "gear rack mechanism" where the gear rack is processed with unequal tooth spacing using special techniques. When the steering wheel is turned, the gear meshes with the gear rack with unequal tooth spacing, resulting in a change in the steering ratio.

b) Electronic Variable Steering Ratio
The electronic variable steering ratio utilizes more complex mechanical structures and requires integration with an electronic system. It better meets the requirements of "light and responsive at low speeds, and stable and robust at high speeds."
