The Three Powers in New Energy Vehicles: What Are They?

The three powers, or "三电" in Chinese, in new energy vehicles refer to the Drive Motor, Power Battery, and Electronic Control System. These three key components work in harmony to form the core of new energy vehicles.

The Drive Motor serves as the power source for new energy vehicles and comes in different forms, including direct current drive, permanent magnet synchronous, and alternating current induction motors. Each type of motor has its own characteristics and applicable range.

In addition to the Drive Motor, the Power Battery is another crucial component of new energy vehicles. Depending on the positive and negative electrode materials, common types of batteries include cobalt lithium, ternary lithium, manganese lithium, and lithium iron phosphate batteries.

Ternary lithium and lithium iron phosphate batteries are commonly used. Ternary lithium batteries offer higher energy density, while lithium iron phosphate batteries have advantages such as lower cost, good stability, and a longer lifespan.

Lastly, the Electronic Control System is the collective term for the entire three-power system, encompassing the overall vehicle control system, motor control system, and battery management system. These systems are interrelated and require coordination to manage the operations of various electrical devices.

An excellent electronic control system is crucial for new energy vehicles, ensuring the collaborative work of various electronic components. It is akin to a restaurant satisfying the tastes of different customers, presenting a considerable challenge.
