1：Introduction
Peter Schreyer (born 1953) hails from Bad Reichenhall in the Bavarian region of Germany. He stands as one of the world's most esteemed figures in the automobile design sector and is recognized as one of Europe's top three car designers.
2：Personal Journey
Peter Schreyer pursued his industrial design studies at the Munich University of Applied Sciences. At the age of 24, he earned an Audi scholarship, which allowed him to study at the Royal College of Art in the UK for a year, where he obtained his master's degree. He then returned to Germany to join Volkswagen's car design division, where he spent a quarter of a century until the end of 2005.
In his early days, Schreyer held the position of Chief Designer for both Audi and Volkswagen. He is credited with designing a slew of car models, including the New Beetle, Audi A6, and the Audi TT series. During this period, Peter gradually ascended to the role of Design Director for Audi. With his ceaseless innovative design philosophy, he enhanced the brand images of both Audi and Volkswagen and steered Audi's design language for an era.
Relationship with Kia
In 2006, Peter Schreyer officially took on the mantle of Chief Designer for Kia, overseeing Kia's global design initiatives. To date, he has introduced classic models to global consumers such as the Forte, Soul, Sorento, Sportage, Kia K9, Kia K7 (Cadenza), Kia K5, Kia K2, and Kia K3.
On December 29, 2012, Kia Motors announced the appointment of the company's Design Director and Executive Vice President, Peter Schreyer, as the new president. Consequently, Peter Schreyer became the first-ever non-Korean president in Kia's history.
He was bestowed with a lifetime achievement award in car design at the Detroit EOD (Eyes On Design) Automotive Design Celebration.
