Track Overview:

Track Length: 4.574 kilometers

The word "Nürburgring" is a compound noun. "Ring" means racetrack, and "Nürburg" is the name of the local area, located in the western Eifel mountains of Germany.

The Nürburgring (South Loop) was completed in 1982, located about 70 kilometers south of the city of Cologne, Germany. Its purpose was to regain the rights to host F1 races, and it hosted its first F1 race in 1984. However, after hosting the German Grand Prix in 1985, the track was removed from the F1 calendar again as drivers found the racing experience dull. It wasn't until 1995 that F1 returned to the Nürburgring. Since there was already a track named the German Grand Prix in Hockenheim, the Nürburgring race became known as the European Grand Prix.

North Loop Track:

Completed in 1927, the "North Loop" track is one of the few globally recognized classic tracks known for its historical significance and technical difficulty, famously referred to as the "Ring of Truth."

With its undulating terrain, a vertical drop of up to 300 meters, and as many as 177 corners, it's an incredibly challenging high-speed track. In some sections, the raised road shoulders are very pronounced. If a tire touches the shoulder, it can easily cause excessive bouncing leading to a loss of control, demanding a lot from the driver's skills and endurance. It also rigorously tests the vehicle's chassis, braking, steering, body rigidity, engine tuning, and tire grip.

The Nürburgring North Loop has become a global standard for car manufacturers for testing vehicles and is also the final testing track for high-performance models. A lap time of under eight minutes is regarded in the automotive world as the "supercar" standard.
