Is it normal for the ESP light and ABS light to turn on together

In modern automobiles, the vast majority of vehicles are equipped with ESP (Electronic Stability System) and ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), the existence of these two systems can effectively improve driving safety, especially in emergency situations to avoid loss of control.

However, some car owners may find that their vehicles have ESP lights and ABS lights on at the same time, so is this situation normal or abnormal? Let's take a closer look.

First of all, when the ESP light and ABS light suddenly turn on during driving and turn off automatically after a while, this is actually a normal phenomenon.

It shows that the ESP and ABS systems have stepped in, especially when driving on slippery roads, and they will intervene frequently to ensure driving safety. If this happens to you, don't worry too much, the safety of the vehicle has not been significantly affected.

However, if the ESP and ABS lights are always on and still not extinguished after restarting the engine, it is most likely that the ABS and ESP sensors are malfunctioning.

In this case, it is advisable to send the vehicle to a professional repair shop for overhaul and maintenance to ensure the proper operation of the system. Because this involves complex electronic and mechanical components, it can be more risky to overhaul yourself if you are not familiar with the relevant wiring and components.

For the case where the ABS and anti-slip faulty lights are on at the same time, if they suddenly light up and disappear after a while, then we don't need to worry too much and can be ignored.

However, if these two lights are always on, we should go to the repair shop as soon as possible to check. Normally, when the wheel speed sensor is stained with dirt, the ABS computer cannot accurately judge the speed signal, resulting in the warning light lighting.

However, the anti-slip fault light is always on, and it may be that the ESP shutdown button has been pressed by mistake, or the sensor terminal is loose or malfunctioning. For specific fault problems, we can further analyze them by reading the OBD fault code.
