How to Start a Car with Keyless Entry When the Key Fob is Dead?

For owners of cars equipped with keyless entry and start functionality, starting the vehicle can be challenging when the key fob is out of battery. Since these vehicles require the key fob to be placed within the proximity of the sensing system for ignition, a dead key fob poses difficulties. However, there are two primary methods to start the vehicle in such situations.

1

The first method involves placing the dead key fob in the designated sensing area. Most keyless start vehicles have a specific key fob sensing zone. Even if the key fob is out of battery, opening the car door and placing the inactive key fob in the sensor's location for a brief period allows the vehicle to detect the key fob's presence. Subsequently, the car can be started and used normally.

2

Alternatively, car owners can opt to replace the battery inside the key fob. It's important to note that some key fobs have very thin batteries or even contain a thin sensing chip. In such cases, replacing the key fob battery might require professional assistance from a 4S dealership or a repair center. If the process is relatively simple, owners can replace the battery themselves.

3

Once the battery is replaced, putting the key fob in the sensing area allows the vehicle to recognize it, enabling the owner to start the car without issues. Therefore, car owners are advised to promptly replace the key fob battery when it shows signs of low power or difficulty in sensing. This ensures the smooth functioning of the vehicle's keyless entry and start system.
