How to Rust-Proof Side Skirts Internally and Perfectly Restore Corroded Side Skirts

The interior of car side skirts is typically unpainted, which means rust usually forms inside rather than outside after side skirt panel repairs. The most effective method for internal rust-proofing is paint flooding: for a new car, fill both side skirts with paint, drain the excess, and once the paint has dried, repeat the process to ensure thorough coverage.

Internal Rust-Proofing During Side Skirt Repairs

During side skirt repairs, high-temperature welding is often required, which can damage the original anti-corrosion layer of the car's metal. After panel repairs, internal rust-proofing can be achieved using rust-proof wax by following these steps:

1:Clean the Interior of the Side Skirt: Ensure the metal surface is clean, dry, and oil-free before applying rust-proofing materials.

2:Use a Long Spray Nozzle: Insert the nozzle of the rust-proof wax into small mounting holes in the car body and spray evenly inside.

3:Ensure Even Coverage: Spray rust-proof wax evenly across the interior of the side skirt.

Rust-proof wax has excellent crawling properties, allowing it to reach enclosed or narrow areas effectively. Additionally, it is resistant to both low and high temperatures, providing robust protection for metal components.

Restoring Rusted Side Skirts

For rusted side skirts, the restoration method depends on the severity of the corrosion:

Minor Rust: Use a touch-up pen for repair. Apply water to fine-grit sandpaper and sand the rusted area in one direction until the rust is removed. Wipe the area clean and apply a primer. Once the primer is dry, smooth it with sandpaper and apply the car's original touch-up paint to restore the appearance.

By following these techniques, you can extend the lifespan of your side skirts and maintain their structural integrity.
