When the red key icon flashes on a Mazda dashboard, it can be due to several reasons:
The key battery is low and needs replacement.
The vehicle may be running without the auto-lock engaged.
The car key may be experiencing interference from external signals.
If the ignition switch is turned from the ON position to ACC, the security indicator will flash every two seconds, indicating the engine immobilizer is ready.

How to Clear the Flashing Red Lock Icon
After turning off the vehicle and locking it, the car will enter theft prevention mode, causing the red lock icon to flash. Starting the engine normally will stop the flashing.
A technician can use a specialized diagnostic computer to read the anti-theft system fault codes. If the codes indicate that the anti-theft system is still engaged, the issue can be confirmed. Upgrading the anti-theft system may resolve it; if not, the anti-theft module may need replacement.
Technicians can use specialized equipment to check the key signal for proper functionality. If the key is not working correctly, it confirms a key malfunction. A faulty key won't send a signal to the anti-theft system, causing the lock indicator to continuously flash, necessitating a key replacement.
Emergency Start Procedure if Key Battery is Dead:
Press the brake pedal and ensure the green indicator light on the engine start button is lit.
Hold the key close to the engine start button.
Confirm the green indicator light is showing normally and press the engine start button to complete the emergency start.
