The seat belt might not retract due to excessive dirt accumulated at the friction point between the belt and the B-pillar's buckle. To remedy this, owners can use detergent or other cleaning agents to clean the belt. Once the belt is dry, it should resume its normal function.
Alignment Issues:
If the seat belt's sliding buckle is too close to the B-pillar, it can prevent the retractor and the belt from aligning in a straight line. This misalignment can hinder the seat belt's retraction. In such cases, the solution is to remove the fixing bolt, add a spring pad to create a gap, and thus ensure the slider is slightly farther from the B-pillar.
Roller Obstruction:
The retraction can be impeded if there's an obstruction near the roller at the lower part of the seat belt. To address this, owners should remove the decorative panel, clean any foreign objects or dust around the roller, and use a cleaning agent if necessary.
Steps to Repair a Seat Belt That Doesn't Retract:
Remove the protective cover and the fixing bolt at the bottom of the seat belt.
Dismantle the protective cover on the B-pillar's bottom.
Remove the protective cover on the upper part of the seat belt, the upper fixing bolt, and the B-pillar's top shield.
Unscrew the fixing bolt of the seat belt retractor.
Remove the fixing bolt of the tweeter (high-pitch speaker).
