Fuel Injection Methods

1:What is it?
It refers to the way fuel is mixed with the incoming air in an engine. Common fuel injection methods include carburetors, throttle body fuel injection (single-point injection), multi-point fuel injection, and direct injection.

2:Classification:
Carburetor
Although the era of carburetors has passed, traditional gasoline engines used this fuel supply method extensively. Carburetors utilize high-speed airflow to atomize gasoline into tiny droplets, which are then thoroughly mixed with air. The cylinder then draws in and ignites the mixture to generate power.

Throttle Body Fuel Injection (Single-Point Injection)
In this method, only one fuel injector is responsible for supplying fuel to all cylinders. The fuel injector is located in the intake manifold before the intake pipe, and the amount of fuel injected is determined by the throttle position. Due to variations in the length and position of the intake manifold, the amount and timing of the mixture entering each cylinder differ, resulting in variations in cylinder performance. However, its advantages lie in its simple structure and low cost.

Multi-Point Fuel Injection
Multi-point fuel injection involves directly injecting fuel into each cylinder's intake manifold, allowing the fuel to enter the cylinder for combustion. Each cylinder has its own individual fuel injector.

Fuel Injection Methods

Direct Injection
In direct injection, the fuel injector is installed inside the combustion chamber, allowing gasoline to be directly injected into the cylinder combustion chamber. The air enters the combustion chamber through the intake valve, where it mixes with the gasoline, which is then ignited to generate power.
