Compared to pure electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid cars are not limited by range, making them more suitable for long-distance travel. Additionally, these vehicles have relatively large batteries that can be charged externally, and they offer different power modes according to demand. They also feature low noise and emissions, along with lower charging costs. However, plug-in hybrid cars face issues such as limited battery life and lack of charging infrastructure.
Series-parallel hybrid cars are a relatively mature type of hybrid vehicle that reduces fuel consumption. During start-up and acceleration, these cars reduce fuel consumption with the assistance of an electric motor, while relying solely on the electric motor for low-speed driving. However, due to their smaller battery capacity, they cannot drive long distances in pure electric mode, and they tend to be relatively expensive.
Range-extended hybrid cars use an engine to generate electricity, while an electric motor drives the vehicle. They offer longer driving ranges, good start-up and acceleration performance, and low overall fuel consumption, making them eligible for subsidies. However, due to their low energy conversion efficiency, they require frequent charging, and their power may be affected during high-speed driving.
