BYD Dashboard Boost Light Turns Red: What Does It Mean

Many car owners believe that if a red light appears on the dashboard, it indicates a significant problem with the vehicle that requires attention at a dealership or repair shop. However, some indicator lights do not signify issues, such as the boost light on the BYD dashboard. If this light turns red, it is not problematic; it simply indicates that a certain function of the vehicle is in use.

When the BYD boost light turns on, it means that the vehicle's turbocharger has been activated, showing the pressure level of the turbocharger. The boost indicator on the BYD dashboard is a progress bar with "min" and "max" levels, where "min" represents the minimum pressure and "max" the maximum pressure. If the turbocharger pressure is high while driving, the owner should appropriately release some pressure to avoid excessive wear on the turbocharger.

Dashboard indicator lights come in red, yellow, and green colors. When a red indicator light illuminates, it means there is a serious malfunction in the vehicle, and the driver should not continue driving. A yellow indicator light indicates a malfunction that is not as severe as a red light, allowing the vehicle to be driven, but it should be repaired as soon as possible. A green indicator light means the function is operating normally, and there is no cause for concern.
