Battery Charging Time

1:What is it?

It refers to the time required for an electric vehicle to reach a full charge. Charging methods are divided into fast charging and slow charging, with different time requirements.

2:Normal Charging Time

Normal charging time, also known as slow charging time, involves AC charging. The AC power from the charging station is converted into DC power by the onboard inverter and then charged into the vehicle's battery. The time to fully charge the battery is approximately 7-8 hours. Slow charging utilizes lower charging current and power, allowing for balanced charging of individual battery cells, but it takes a longer time to charge.

3:Fast Charging Time

Fast charging time, also known as quick charging time, involves DC charging. The DC power from the charging station directly charges the battery. It takes about 0.5 hours to charge the battery to 80% capacity using fast charging. Beyond 80%, the charging current decreases to protect the battery's safety. However, fast charging may introduce some state-of-charge (SOC) uncertainty and may not achieve the vehicle's rated range under standard conditions.
